LPES Families,
As we enter our final month of the 2025–2026 school year, I find myself reflecting on what an exceptional first year it has been for me here at LPES. I am incredibly grateful for the warm welcome, kindness, and ongoing support that I have received throughout the year. It has truly been a privilege to become part of such a caring and supportive school community.
June is always an exciting and memorable month in schools, and we have so many wonderful events to look forward to together. From our upcoming Play Days to our end-of-year celebrations of learning, there will be many opportunities for students to celebrate their growth, achievements, friendships, and successes from throughout the year.
As we also begin looking ahead to September and the exciting opportunities that come with moving into a new grade level, I would like to take a moment to speak about the student placement process for the 2026–2027 school year.
Please know that assigning students to homeroom classes is a very thoughtful and inclusive process. Our staff dedicate a considerable amount of time, care, and professional collaboration to creating class placements that best support each student’s success, learning, growth, and overall development.
I completely understand that, upon receiving placements for next year, some students and families may wish for their child to be in an alternate class section alongside particular friends or peers. However, I respectfully ask in advance that families support and respect the placements as they are received.
An important part of developing students as whole individuals is helping them understand that, in life, we may not always have the opportunity to do everything alongside our friends. At the same time, there are always opportunities to maintain and strengthen those friendships in different ways. At LPES, our pod structures allow classes within each colour pod to work together regularly, and students also continue to connect during recesses, shared activities, and school-wide events.
If friends are placed in alternate homeroom sections, please know that there are many thoughtful reasons behind those decisions, all made with students’ best interests in mind.
In summary, thank you in advance for your understanding and support regarding student placements for the 2026–2027 school year.
Finally, thank you once again for all of your continued support throughout this school year. I look forward to seeing all of the amazing things that June will bring at LPES as we finish the year together on a positive and celebratory note.
Warm regards,
Mrs. R. Casavant
LPES Principal
